Kelly Weeds, PADI Master Instructor, Medic First Aid Instructor Trainer,EFR Instructor, NZUA Cylinder Testing Signatory
& Mie Kawai, PADI Divemaster
Facility Owners
Kelly was born and bred in the Bay of Islands and learnt to dive around the same time as he learnt to walk. He did a stint of ten years in Japan where he worked as an English Teacher and Dive Instructor and where he was lucky enough to meet Mie who is from Kobe City. Together they returned to NZ in late 2003 and opened Dive HQ Bay of Islands in October 2004. They both love their diving as well as being pretty fanatical surfers. Kelly was once described by a friend in Japan as “always having fun – in and out of the water” and that has become their motto.
Service is at a very high standard in Japan and that is what Kelly & Mie have brought to Dive HQ Bay of Islands. Staffs are keen to help, advice or just share a yarn.
